Attidiya: In commemoration of National War Heroes Day, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) visited the Mihindu Seth Medura in Attidiya today.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the Deputy Minister, accompanied by the Commanders of the Army and Navy, spent time with inmates of the home who had sustained critical injuries and were rendered differently abled during the decades-long armed conflict.
The Deputy Minister and senior officials engaged with residents of the facility, taking time to listen to their concerns while also reviewing the medical, rehabilitation, and support services provided to them. The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for their bravery and assured them of continued government support and assistance in improving their quality of life.
He also extended his gratitude to the dedicated staff of Mihindu Seth Medura for their commitment to the care and rehabilitation of differently-abled veterans. He commended their service in ensuring that these heroes are treated with dignity, respect, and the honour they rightfully deserve as valued members of society.
Army Chief of Staff, senior tri forces officers, and staff of the Mihindu Seth Medura were present during the occasion.
