Colombo: The Internal Affairs Unit of the Ministry of Defence conducted an awareness programme for Ministry staff on 07 July at the Ministry premises.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the programme focused on promoting ethical conduct, accountability, and professionalism in the public service while enhancing awareness of good governance principles. Participants were briefed on the importance of integrity, transparency, and individual responsibility in fostering an efficient, accountable, and citizen-centric public service.
The awareness session was conducted by Mr. Tharindu Weerasinghe, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Human Resource Management, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Drawing on his expertise in organizational development and public sector management, he shared valuable insights on strengthening ethical leadership and cultivating a culture of excellence within public institutions.
The programme forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to reinforce institutional integrity, promote good governance, and uphold the highest standards of public service delivery.
Senior Ministry officials, including Additional Secretary Mr. Harsha Vithaanarachchi, Additional Secretary – Parliament Affairs and Policy and Head of the Internal Affairs Unit Mrs. Priyangani Hewarathna, and a number of Ministry officials, attended the programme.
