Dhaka: Prolonged gas shortages across the capital are disrupting daily life, leaving many households unable to cook meals on time. The hardship is particularly severe for low-income families, many of whom have no alternative but to cook on wood-fired stoves outside their homes, in narrow alleys or in open spaces.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the shift has increased cooking time, labor, and household expenses, while women and children are also being exposed to health risks from smoke.
