China Strengthens Ties with Bangladesh through Support for Chittagong Medical Project


Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has affirmed China’s commitment to providing necessary assistance and support to Bangladesh, aiming to ensure that bilateral cooperation yields tangible benefits for the peoples of both nations. He made these remarks during an on-site inspection of the China-aid Burn Unit at Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Monday.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Ambassador Yao emphasized China’s willingness to collaborate closely with Bangladesh to transform the project into a landmark of China-Bangladesh cooperation. The Chinese side places significant importance on the successful implementation of this initiative.



During his visit, Ambassador Yao engaged with key local figures, including Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Member of Parliament Abu Sufian, and Director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Mohammed Taslim. The discussions focused on the project’s progress and the strengthening of bilateral ties.



The ambassador also provided ‘constructive suggestions’ on advancing the project and held a meeting with the Chinese management and technical teams, as communicated by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka. Dr. Shahadat and other Bangladeshi officials conveyed their gratitude to China for its steadfast support in contributing to Bangladesh’s development and improving people’s livelihoods. They also expressed optimism about achieving further outcomes through continued cooperation.
