Dhaka: A man and his son are missing following the capsizing of an engine-run boat near the Borokuthi area in the Padma River within Rajshahi city.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Afsar Ali, 60, and his son Ziarul Haque, 40, both from Shyampur Balurghat area under Katakhali Police Station, are the missing individuals. Ziarul’s mother, Jahera Begum, 55, was rescued by local boatmen, while five other passengers managed to swim to safety.

Witnesses reported that the boat was carrying eight people and a tree log from the Char Majhardiara area when it capsized around 12:45 pm due to waves. Monjil Haque, the deputy assistant director of the Rajshahi Sadar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, stated that six divers are actively searching for the missing father and son.
