Man Sentenced to Death for Murdering Seven-Year-Old Boy in Chattogram

Dhaka: A Chattogram court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing a seven-year-old boy in 2016. Judge of the Chattogram Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-2 Nishaduzzaman delivered the judgement.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the condemned convict is Al Amin, 44, son of Zinnat Ali of Nikli in Kishoreganj district. The court also fined him Tk 25,000. In addition to the death sentence, the court sentenced him to seven years in jail and fined him Tk 5,000; in default, he would suffer two more months in jail for concealing the body after the murder.

The prosecution detailed that Al Amin strangled Md Mahfuz, son of Md Mahbub of the Halishahar area of Chattogram city, with a towel on September 5, 2016. The motive was attributed to previous enmity with the victim’s family. Following the murder, Al Amin disposed of the body in a canal adjacent to his house.

Police later recovered the body, leading to a case being filed at Halishahar Police Station. Subsequently, a charge sheet against Al Amin was submitted by the police on April 27, 2017.
