Deep Depression Over Northwest Bay Weakens After Moving West-Northwestwards

Dhaka: The deep depression that was positioned over the Northwest Bay and the adjoining West Bengal coast has moved in a west-northwestward direction, crossing the West Bengal-North Odisha coasts early on Tuesday morning at 06 am.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the weather system now resides over north Odisha and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal coast. The meteorological office has issued a bulletin stating that the depression is likely to continue its west-northwestward trajectory while weakening gradually. The pressure gradient over the North Bay and its adjacent areas remains steep, which could lead to squally weather conditions affecting the Maritime Ports, North Bay, and nearby coastal regions of Bangladesh.

As a precaution, maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to keep local cautionary signal No 3 hoisted. Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers operating over the North Bay are advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice is given.
