Dhaka: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday destroyed drugs worth nearly Tk 84 crore that had been seized in separate anti-smuggling operations along the Cumilla and Satkhira borders. The drugs were destroyed at the headquarters of Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) and Nildumur Battalion (17 BGB) in Satkhira.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the event in Cumilla was attended by Brig Gen Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, region commander of BGB’s Sarail Region, who presided as the chief guest. BGB officials reported that drugs valued at Tk 51.84 crore, seized over the past three years by Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) and Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), were destroyed during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Brig Gen Mahmudul Hasan, the region commander of the Jashore Region, was present at the destruction programme at Nildumur Battalion. BGB reported that goods worth Tk 51.85 crore were seized in anti-smuggling operations conducted in the Shyamnagar, Debhata, and Kaliganj border areas of Satkhira between September 7, 2
023, and July 11, 2026. Of these seized goods, narcotics valued at Tk 31.94 crore were destroyed on Tuesday.

BGB stated that it will persist with its anti-drug operations in an effort to keep the country free from narcotics.
