Cabinet Committee Approves Infrastructure Projects to Boost Mirsarai Economic Zone

Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has given the green light to two significant infrastructure contracts valued at approximately Tk 335.13 crore. These contracts are part of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) initiative aimed at developing the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Mirsarai, Chattogram.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the proposals for the projects were submitted by the Prime Minister’s Office and are integral to the revised National Special Economic Zone Development Project. The CCGP’s approval signifies a commitment to enhancing the infrastructure necessary for the NSEZ’s growth.

The committee proposed awarding a contract worth Tk 123.34 crore to Monico Limited for the construction of road networks in Sub Zones 6 and 7, as well as 11 and 18 of the NSEZ, under Package No. WD-23-NSEZ-BEZA (e-GP Tender ID No. 214074). This decision is part of the broader strategy to improve transportation connectivity within the zone.

In a separate resolution, the CCGP recommended a contract valued at Tk 211.79 crore for the construction of the power network under Package No. WD-4A-BSMSN-BEZA. This contract is proposed for Reverie Power and Automation Engineering Ltd, aiming to bolster the electricity infrastructure in the economic zone.
