Two Electrocuted While Clearing Fallen Tree in Gaibandha

Dhaka: Two individuals tragically died from electrocution while attempting to clear a fallen coconut tree obstructing a road in the Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, leaving the local community in shock.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims were identified as Mowla, aged 35, son of Aibuddin from Patharepara village, and Azimuddin, aged 60, son of Basir Uddin from Darapara village. Swapan Kumar Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Police Station, reported that the mishap took place when a coconut tree being cut down accidentally fell onto an overhead power line in the Darapara area, causing an electric wire to snap.

Mowla and Azimuddin, in their efforts to remove the fallen tree, came into contact with the live wire. Mowla succumbed to his injuries instantly at the scene, while Azimuddin was critically injured. Despite being taken to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for medical treatment, Azimuddin could not be saved and later passed away from his injuries.
