Dhaka: A Chattogram court has placed Mobarak Hossain Emon, also known as David Emon, and his three associates on a 10-day remand related to murder and arms cases registered at Fatikchhari Police Station. This decision was made by Judge Motasim Billah of the Senior Judicial Magistrate-3 court after the four accused were presented before him, with police requesting seven days’ remand for each case.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the accused accompanying David Emon on remand are Md Shamim, Safayet Hossain, and Al Islam Alif, who is also known as Tamal. Following a review of arguments from both sides, the court approved five days of remand for each case, culminating in a total of 10 days. Previously, another Chattogram court had ordered the detention of David Emon and his associates in connection with three other cases after they were apprehended during a joint operation in Jashore on July 29, while allegedly attempting to escape to India.
On the day of the court proceedings, the accused were brought under stringent security measures, with additional police presence around the court premises. According to case documents, the police uncovered firearms in Fatikchhari based on information obtained from Emon and his associates following their arrest.
David Emon, 25, hailing from Kanchannagar in Fatikchhari upazila, is implicated in 13 cases involving murder and illegal arms, as stated by Additional Superintendent of Police Kazi Md Tareq Aziz. The authorities aim to interrogate the suspects to gain further insights into their criminal operations and potentially recover more illegal weapons.
Based on information from multiple district police sources, the investigation into David Emon’s activities was intensified while examining the murder of Maksudul Haque Chowdhury on June 13 in the Pahartali area. Information obtained from the suspects led police to raid an abandoned house in Manikpur village of Kanchannagor union in Fatikchhari, where they recovered a foreign pistol, two local LG guns, and various improvised weapons.
