Dhaka: Two more children died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8:00 am on Tuesday, bringing Bangladesh’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 849. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all the latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths.

According to United News of Bangladesh, with the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 753, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remains at 96. During the same 24-hour period, a total of 896 new suspected measles cases were reported, raising the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 131,946.

Meanwhile, 123 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 16,531. Since March 15, a total of 114,393 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 110,187 have recovered, according to DGHS data.

The ongoing health crisis has put significant pressure on the country’s healthcare system, with medical facilities working tirelessly to manage the rising number of cases. Public health officials continue to urge citizens to remain vigilant and seek medical attention if measles-like symptoms appear.
