Dhaka: Young people from four districts have been invited to apply for the Youth Environmental Influencers Programme, an initiative aimed at equipping youth with digital storytelling and mobile journalism skills to promote environmental awareness in their communities. The programme is being launched under the Liveable and Inclusive Cities for All (LICA) project, implemented by GIZ Bangladesh on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

According to United News of Bangladesh, the LICA project works to improve climate-sensitive and inclusive urban environmental management in selected municipalities across Bangladesh. Organisers said the initiative is open to young people aged 18 to 24 from Khulna, Rajshahi, Satkhira and Sirajganj, with no prior professional experience required.

Selected participants will attend a four-day in-person training workshop covering mobile photography, video production, digital storytelling, and social media communication. Participants will also receive certificates, opportunities to network with experienced professionals, and awards for outstanding content.

The programme aims to empower young people to produce stories and digital content highlighting environmental challenges and practical solutions within their own communities. Applications from young women, persons with disabilities, and youth from disadvantaged or minority communities are especially encouraged, according to the organisers.
