July Mass Uprising Day Commemorated with Nationwide Ceremonies


Dhaka: July Mass Uprising Day was observed across Bangladesh on Wednesday with various programmes, including placing wreaths at memorials, holding discussions and rallies, and paying tribute to those who were killed and injured during the historic July Uprising in 2024. Despite light rain, people from different walks of life, including government and private officials, political and social organisations, teachers, students, and ordinary citizens, paid tribute to the martyrs in different parts of the country.



According to United News of Bangladesh, in Dinajpur, government and private officials, political and social organisations, teachers, students, and people from various professions placed wreaths at the July martyrs’ memorial at the Gymnasium premises of July Gaur Martyr Ground from the morning. In Khulna, the day was observed under the theme ‘We will build the country with the spirit of July, Bangladesh first.’ Members of the families of July martyrs and July fighters placed wreaths at the July Martyrs’ Memorial at Shibbari in the morning. Leaders and representatives of the district and metropolitan units of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, members of parliament from Khulna-2 and Khulna-4 constituencies, the divisional commissioner, Range DIG, police commissioner, KCC administrator, KDA chairman, WASA chairman, deputy commissioner, police superintendent, district council, government offices, teachers, students, and political parties also paid tribute.



In Barishal, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahiruddin Swapon paid tribute to the martyrs at the July Revolution Memorial near Amtala intersection, marking the second anniversary of the July Revolution. In Jhalakathi, the day was observed with due respect, deep reverence, and various programmes to remember the martyrs and injured participants of the uprising.



In Narail, the district administration and different organisations organised daylong programmes to commemorate the sacrifices of those killed and the contributions of those injured during the historic July 2024 mass uprising. The programmes also highlighted the spirit of democracy, justice, and constitutional values. In Cumilla, the district administration began its programmes in the morning by placing wreaths at the July Memorial at Cumilla Town Hall premises.



In Mymensingh, people paid tribute to the martyrs at the July Memorial at Baspas intersection in the city despite the rain. In Jhenaidah, a colourful rally was brought out from the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the morning. The rally paraded the city’s main streets before ending at the July Memorial in Chaklapara. District Commissioner and Police Superintendent placed wreaths at the memorial on behalf of the state.



In Kushtia, the second anniversary of July Mass Uprising Day was observed through various programmes. District Commissioner placed a wreath at the July Memorial built at Abrar Fahad Stadium in the morning. In Rangamati, the day was observed under the theme ‘We will build the country with the spirit of July, Bangladesh first.’ The district administration organised a wreath-laying ceremony at the Central July Memorial, a discussion, and a programme to honour injured July fighters with crests.



In Khagrachhari, wreaths were placed at the July Martyrs’ Memorial on the premises of Khagrachhari Government College on Wednesday morning as part of the day’s programmes. The programmes across the country were held to remember the sacrifices of the July martyrs and injured participants and to uphold the ideals and spirit of the 2024 mass uprising.
