Gabtoli: A gas cylinder of a fish-carrying refrigerated truck exploded in the capital’s Gabtoli area on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old man and injuring the driver.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, son of Sarwar Molla of Lohagara upazila in Narail. Imran and the driver, Md Faruk Hossain, 40, were engaged in repairing the refrigerated truck and refilling its gas in front of a refrigerator shop near the Dipnagar fish market, as reported by Imran’s cousin Sabuj.

The incident occurred when the gas cylinder suddenly exploded around 8:00 pm, leaving both Imran and Faruk injured. They were initially transported to a local hospital but later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) due to their critical condition.

Doctors at DMCH declared Imran dead around 11:00 pm, while Faruk is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, as confirmed by Inspector Md Faruk, the in-charge of the DMCH police camp. Imran was employed at a refrigerator shop in the Dipnagar area, according to his cousin Sabuj.
