Chapainawabganj: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two individuals along with counterfeit Indian currency and note-making equipment in Chapainawabganj.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the arrestees were identified as Tosikul Islam, 30, son of Monirul Islam of Monakasha Chowdhurypara in Shibganj upazila of the district, and Shamim Ali, 32, son of Saidur Rahman of the Mandirmor area in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon.
The arrest came during a raid on a rented house in the Arambagh-Balubagan area of Chapainawabganj town on Saturday night, said RAB-5 Chapainawabganj Camp In-charge Additional Superintendent of Police Iftekhar Hossain Mahmud. Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted the raid around midnight.
The elite force members seized 25 bundles of counterfeit Indian currency and equipment used for producing fake notes, including two printers, during the operation. The RAB official stated that the two arrestees worked as technicians involved in producing counterfeit currency and efforts were underway to arrest the mastermind behind the operation.
