New delhi: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, delivering messages from his recent meetings with Bangladesh’s leadership. This key diplomatic engagement is seen as part of ongoing efforts to fortify the relationship between the two neighboring countries.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Trivedi sought guidance from Prime Minister Modi on enhancing bilateral ties with Bangladesh through a constructive and people-centric approach. The discussions underscored India’s commitment to fostering relations that benefit the citizens of both nations.
In conjunction with Trivedi’s visit, India reiterated its invitation to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for a bilateral visit to New Delhi, as well as participation in the BRICS Summit’s outreach session. The invitation, initially extended in February, was emphasized during a regular briefing by Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, who assured that updates on the matter would be provided.
Trivedi’s meetings in Dhaka, which preceded his arrival in New Delhi on Monday, were aimed at consulting with Bangladesh’s leaders to further advance bilateral relations. His engagements included discussions with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, focusing on mutual interests and the shared vision for future cooperation.
A meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman also took place at State Guest House Padma, where discussions centered on strengthening ties in a “positive, constructive, and forward-looking” manner. The discussions highlighted the intent to cooperate closely with the Bangladeshi government and its people.
During these courtesy meetings, security cooperation and people-centric initiatives were focal points, with both sides expressing a desire to enhance collaboration based on mutual interest and benefit. Trivedi’s visit underscores the importance of diplomatic dialogues in maintaining and developing strong bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh.
