Dhaka: The current parliament, established through the February 12 election, is scheduled to commence its third session on August 27 after a 43-day recess. This session follows the prorogation of the second session, with the assembly set to reconvene at 3 PM on the specified date, as confirmed by Monir Hossain, Director of Public Relations at the Parliament Secretariat.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the President has called for the parliamentary session by leveraging the authority granted under Article 72(1) of the Constitution. The previous session, notably the second (budget) session, was adjourned on July 15 after 27 working days. During this period, the parliament successfully passed a Tk 9,38,000 crore national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. This budget marks the inaugural budget under the current BNP government.

In addition to budgetary approvals, the parliament also enacted 11 bills and established 11 parliamentary committees. These include the Special Committee for Constitutional Amendment and nine parliamentary standing committees, highlighting the legislative body’s active role in shaping national policy. The first session of the 13th Parliament initially began on March 12, 2026.
