According to United News of Bangladesh, police and locals reported that Rabbi was standing in front of the regional passport office around noon when several youths carrying locally made weapons attacked him. Rabbi attempted to seek refuge in a nearby shop, but the attackers pursued him inside and hacked him with sharp weapons before fleeing, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued Rabbi and rushed him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Hossain Ali, an uncle of the deceased, recounted that Rabbi was attacked in broad daylight with hundreds of witnesses present, yet no one intervened. He expressed his family’s desire for justice, stating, “Nobody protested, and now people are afraid to speak. We want justice for this killing.”

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Shibirul Islam stated that police initially discovered a dispute between Rabbi and two individuals named Khalek and Sabbir regarding the supply of construction materials for a house in Mistri Para. The disagreement allegedly arose from an unsatisfactory arrangement between the parties over the supply of rods, cement, sand, and other materials.

The OC revealed, “Based on our preliminary findings, Khalek, Sabbir and their associates carried out the killing out of this resentment,” while assuring that efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible.
