Measles-like Symptoms Result in Four More Deaths in Country


Dhaka: Four children have died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, raising the country’s total count of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities to 894 this year.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has categorized all four recent fatalities as suspected measles deaths, with no confirmed deaths reported within the same time frame. This development brings the total number of suspected measles deaths to 795, while the count of confirmed measles-related deaths remains at 99.



During the 24-hour period, 972 new suspected measles cases were identified, increasing the nationwide tally of suspected cases to 141,048. Additionally, 187 new confirmed cases have been recorded, resulting in a total of 17,730 laboratory-confirmed measles infections.



Since March 15 this year, a total of 122,794 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Among these patients, 118,540 have successfully recovered, as per the DGHS data.
