Dhaka: A young man tragically lost his life after falling between two coaches of a Titas Commuter train at Narsingdi Railway Station on Friday morning. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Md Amir Hossain from Nagar Baniadi village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila, succumbed to his injuries after being dragged by the moving train.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred around 7:30am when the train was departing the station. Amir had been returning from a visit to the Kella Shah shrine in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, along with two friends. The trio had spent the previous night at the shrine and traveled back to Narsingdi on the roof of the train early Friday.

As the train reached Narsingdi station, passengers began disembarking from the roof amid a heavy crowd. In the commotion, Amir lost his balance while attempting to get down and fell between the coaches as the train started its journey to Dhaka. Witnesses reported that the train dragged him for approximately 30 yards before people at the station rushed to his aid.

Despite being quickly transported to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, Amir was declared dead upon arrival by Farida Gulshanara Kabir, the hospital’s resident medical officer. His body was subsequently handed over to railway police.

Amir’s friend, Akram Hossain, recounted their journey, explaining that the crowded conditions on the train forced them to ride on the roof. ‘We tried to get inside the train, but there was no space. Two of us managed to get down safely, but Amir fell and was tragically killed,’ he said.

Sub-Inspector Dilip Chandra Sarker from the Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost confirmed that the body was released to Amir’s family without an autopsy at their request.
