Jashore: Three schoolgirls, including two sisters, drowned while bathing in a pond in Bagherpara upazila of Jashore on Friday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Lamia, 13, and her younger sister Sultana, 10, daughters of Nisar Ali of Dakkhinpara in Jamdia village, and their neighbor Fahima, 9, daughter of Ashik. Lamia was a Class-VI student at Jamdia Secondary School, while Sultana and Fahima were Class-IV and Class-III students, respectively, at Jamdia Government Primary School.
Family members reported that the three girls went to the nearby Ekram Molla pond to bathe around noon as their schools were closed. They drowned while bathing in the pond. When the girls did not return home for some time, their families began searching for them and later recovered their bodies from the pond.
Officer-in-Charge of Bagherpara Police Station Mohammad Shahjalal Alam stated that an unnatural death case was filed over the incident.
