Sunkoshi Bridge on Gaighat-Diktel road washed away


A flood has washed the bridge over the Sunkoshi River at Phoxingtar between Udayapur and Khotang along the Sagarmatha Road connecting Gaighat of Udayapur to Diktel of Khotang.

According to the District Police Office, Udayapur, the bridge was taken away by the flood-fed Sunkoshi following incessant rainfall for the past two days.

Vehicular movement on Gaighat-Diktel stretch under Garmatha road section has been completely disrupted with the flood washing away the bridge.

The construction of the bridge that started in 2067 BS was completed in 2074 BS. The 178-metre-long and 7.5-metre-wide bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 130 million, according to Gaighat Diktel Road Office,

Chief at the District Police Office, Udayapur Hariharnath Yogi said that the bridge at Sunkoshi has been washed away by the massive flood in Sunkoshi.
