Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken actions against 19,962 battery-run rickshaws in separate drives in the past seven days till September 28.

During the drive police also disconnected the electric cables of 9,301 battery-run rickshaws and seized the seats of 4,159 auto-rickshaws in the capital.

The drive was conducted from September 22 to September 28, said Assistant Commissioner (AC-Media) of the DMP Jahangir Kabir.

Besides, 660 battery operated rickshaws were dumped and batteries of three rickshaws were seized and other measures were taken against 5, 839 auto-rickshaws during the drive.

The drive against battery-run rickshaws will continue to maintain traffic order in the metropolitan area, he said.
