Iranian Ambassador Engages in Bilateral Talks with Sri Lankan Defence Secretary.

Sri Jayewardenepura: The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Defence Ministry in the Defence Headquarters Complex, Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the meeting began with a warm reception, followed by a cordial discussion on matters of bilateral importance and cooperation between the two nations. The discussions emphasized the mutual interests and potential collaborative efforts in various sectors.

In a gesture to commemorate the occasion, Ambassador Delkhosh presented a copy of the Sinhala translation of Omar Khayyam’s book “Rubaiyat” to the Defence Secretary. In return, the Defence Secretary presented a memento to the Ambassador, symbolizing the friendly ties between Iran and Sri Lanka.

The meeting was attended by key officials including Military Liaison Officer Air Vice Marshal Padman De Costa and Defence Attaché o
f the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka, Col. Homayoun Aliyari. Their presence underscored the significance of the event in strengthening diplomatic and defence relations between the two countries.
