Colombo: Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Paul Stephens, has praised the new Sri Lankan government’s commitment to a corruption-free approach to governance, noting that this initiative is drawing interest from investors. During a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat with Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Stephens conveyed Australia’s readiness to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to establish a corruption-free system across the nation.

According to News.LK, the High Commissioner highlighted the long-standing 75-year friendship between Sri Lanka and Australia, underscoring both countries’ dedication to strengthening their relations. The discussion also explored potential technical support from Australia in areas such as national security, maritime affairs, digitalization, public sector modernization, vocational education, and the energy sector.

High Commissioner Stephens specifically commended President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, affirming Austral
ia’s willingness to provide necessary support to ensure its success. The meeting was also attended by Australian Deputy High Commissioner Lalita Kapur and Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage.
