Jamalpur: An assistant judge was killed in a road accident at Lahirikanda on Jamalpur-Mymensingh road in Jamalpur Sadar upazila early Monday. The deceased was AKM Samiul Haque, 27, an assistant judge at the Jamalpur District and Sessions Judge’s Court and son of AKM Fazlul Haque of Satpai Chitpara village in Netrokona Sadar upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, police reported that Samiul Haque was returning to his workplace in Jamalpur from his father’s house in Lalmatia, Dhaka, in a car. The private car carrying Samiul Haque crashed into a stationary truck loaded with rods, resulting in injuries to both him and the driver.
Nazmus Shakib, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, stated that a rescue team from Jamalpur Sadar Police Station and Jamalpur Fire Service reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. They rescued the injured individuals and transported them to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, the on-duty doctor declared Samiul dead upon arrival.
The private car driver, Idris Ali, 46, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Legal proceedings are underway concerning the accident.
