Riyadh: Bangladesh is set to participate in the upcoming ministerial roundtable in Riyadh, a key segment of the third edition of the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC). This event is held under the auspices of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and is themed ‘Future in Progress.’ Dr. Asif Nazrul, the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser, will represent Bangladesh at this significant gathering.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the conference will convene at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center and is expected to attract 40 labor ministers from across the globe. The event aims to address pressing labor market issues by moving from dialogue to practical implementation. Participants will focus on creating actionable employment pathways, sharing international best practices, and exploring avenues for enhancing multilateral cooperation in areas such as skills development, technology adoption, job quality, and social protection.
Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, emphasized the importance of the roundtable as an opportunity to harness collective knowledge and expertise. By facilitating collaboration and the exchange of successful policy models, the roundtable aims to develop regulatory frameworks that improve work environments and enhance competitiveness, ultimately bolstering labor market resilience. Al Rajhi highlighted that the roundtable’s impact will extend beyond the Saudi labor market, contributing to positive and sustainable changes in labor systems worldwide.
The ministerial roundtable, chaired by Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, will also feature Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the International Labour Organization. This event is part of the broader Global Labor Market Conference scheduled for January 26-27 in Riyadh. Organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in partnership with various international organizations, the conference serves as a strategic global platform for discussing the future of labor markets.
