Colombo: The 60th National Day of the Republic of Maldives was celebrated with grandeur and diplomatic fervor at a formal ceremony held at the Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams Hotel in Colombo. Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) also attended the ceremony held last evening.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, His Excellency Masood Imad, Ambassador of the Maldives to Sri Lanka, officially welcomed dignitaries, diplomats, and invited guests to the occasion. The event was graced by the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, who attended as the Chief Guest.

Organized by the High Commission of the Maldives to Sri Lanka, the event marked a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two countries. The celebration not only commemorated the Maldivian National Day but also highlighted the deep-rooted diplomatic relations and shared cultural heritage between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

The gathering saw the attendance of senior state officials, members of the diplomatic corps, senior tri forces officers, and representatives from various sectors, all contributing to the significance of the occasion.
