Colombo: President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed acting ministers for four ministries in view of his departure from the country yesterday on an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, undertaken at the invitation of the President of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Accordingly, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), has been appointed as Acting Minister of Defence.
According to Ministry of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) will assume the responsibilities of the Defence Ministry in the absence of the President. This appointment is part of a broader measure to ensure the continuity of ministerial functions during the President’s official visit abroad.
