Colombo: The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), paid an official visit to the Air Force Headquarters at the DHQC in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte today (01 October).
According to Ministry of Defence, the Deputy Minister was warmly received upon arrival by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, and was accorded a ceremonial welcome. During his visit, Major General Jayasekara held discussions with the Air Force Commander and was introduced to the Air Force Board of Management. The discussions focused on key operational and administrative matters.
Major General Jayasekara addressed a gathering of senior Officers of the Air Force and staff, where he appreciated the Air Force’s crucial role in national development projects and their effective response during disaster management operations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strict accountability on all aspects.
He reiterated the government’s focus on nation-building and urged the officers to dedicate
their fullest potential to the country’s development. He called for close involvement and supervision of personnel engaged in national projects, ensuring all activities adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and discipline. He urged them to take command responsibility and display versatility in their approach to evolving national security and development challenges.
The Deputy Minister also lauded the Air Force’s contribution to ushering in an era of peace and its continuous commitment towards national development initiatives.
