Colombo: A felicitation ceremony to honour the partners who have made significant contributions to Sri Lanka’s efforts in combating human trafficking, together with the validation workshop for the National Strategic Action Plan (NSAP) 2026-2030, was held yesterday at the Courtyard by Marriott, Colombo.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event brought together representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labour Organization (ILO), and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), along with senior officials of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF).
As the Chairman of the NAHTTF, Defence Secretary AVM Thuyacontha (Retd) presented Letters of Appreciation to key partners and stakeholders, acknowledging their invaluable contributions and continued collaboration in combating human trafficking.
In his remarks, the Defence Secretary com
mended the dedication, commitment, and joint efforts of all partner institutions in addressing and preventing human trafficking in Sri Lanka. He underscored that the strong partnership among government agencies, international organizations, and civil society is essential for the successful implementation of the forthcoming National Strategic Action Plan (2026-2030).
