French Ambassador Engages in Dialogue with Sri Lankan Defence Secretary


Colombo: The Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr. Rémi Lambert, met with Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the meeting involved discussions on mutual interests, aiming to strengthen defence cooperation, capacity building, and bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and France. Both parties explored various avenues to enhance their collaborative efforts in these areas.

The ambassador and the Defence Secretary also discussed the Regional Center for Maritime Studies at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. This center is pivotal in promoting maritime studies and cooperation in the region.

Accompanying the ambassador were Commander Carine Buzaud, Director of Studies (French) at the RCMS, and Lieutenant Commander Florian Bouvenot, the French Maritime Safety and Security Advisor, indicating a collaborative effort in promoting regional maritime safety and security.
