Dhaka: A Dhaka court has placed Md Rubel Ahmed, an accused in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi, on a six-day remand. The decision was made by Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam after a hearing.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the investigation officer, CID Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan, presented Rubel Ahmed before the court and requested a ten-day remand for further interrogation. Notably, no defense lawyer was present during the hearing.

The case statement reveals that Sharif Osman Bin Hadi served as the spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho, a political and cultural platform established after an uprising. On December 12, Hadi was attacked by motorcycle-riding assailants on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Model Police Station. He sustained severe gunshot wounds to his head and below his right ear.

Hadi was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later moved to Evercare Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted to Singapore for advanced treatment on December 15. Unfortunately, he passed away on December 18 while receiving medical care.

In response to the incident, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Police Station on December 14. The case was subsequently upgraded to a murder case following Hadi’s death.
