Dhaka: The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, which marks the anniversary of both the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), is set to be observed in the country on August 26. This announcement follows a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee, convened at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The meeting was chaired by Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad on Thursday evening.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the committee confirmed that the moon of Rabiul Awal of 1448 Hijri was not sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday. This sighting marks the Islamic calendar’s month and is crucial for determining the date of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Hijri calendar, which corresponds to 570 AD. Remarkably, he also passed away on the same day in 632 AD. The observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi is a significant religious event for Muslims, commemorating the life and teachings of the Prophet.
