Khulna: Police recovered the hanging body of a teenage housewife from a residence in Khulna city on Wednesday morning and detained her husband and father-in-law for questioning. The deceased was identified as Mita, aged 16.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the body was recovered around 9 am from a house near Gaffar Food intersection in Gilatala under Ward No. 6 of Khan Jahan Ali Police Station. The detainees are Mita’s husband, Majhar, and his father, Saiful Islam.

Khan Jahan Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abul Bashar stated that police rushed to the scene after being informed by locals and found the young woman hanging from a bamboo beam inside the house. The husband and father-in-law were taken to the police station after local residents raised questions about the incident.

“The matter is under investigation, and it is too early to comment on the cause of death,” the OC said, indicating that the authorities are conducting a thorough inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
