Investors’ Confidence Rebuilt Through Harmonisation of Fiscal and Monetary Policies: Dr Titumir

Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Finance and Planning Adviser Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir on Sunday stated that investors’ confidence is being rebuilt through the close harmonisation of fiscal and monetary policies. He highlighted the autonomy of the central bank, a stable long-term tax structure, and forensic financial audits as vital components supporting Bangladesh’s shift towards a competitive investment environment.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the adviser was speaking at a roundtable titled ‘The Capital Dialogue’, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its conference room. The event gathered senior representatives from foreign missions in Dhaka, development partners, and financial institutions, continuing the discussions from the ‘Roadmap for Trade, Growth and Economic Diplomacy Conference 2026’ held on June 13.

In her opening remarks, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam reiterated the government’s strong commitment to revitalizing the national economy. Dr Titumir outlined the government’s plans to transform Bangladesh into a $1 trillion economy by 2034, emphasizing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s ‘Bangladesh First’ policy and the critical role of foreign investment in achieving national economic priorities.

The roundtable was attended by notable figures such as Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and representatives from various ministries, financial divisions, and international organizations, including the Embassy of Indonesia, the British High Commission, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), among others. Participants expressed optimism that the roundtable would aid in advancing the recovery and reconstruction of Bangladesh’s economy.

A consensus was reached on the need for close coordination among the government, development agencies, and financial institutions. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to developing a partner-aligned financing roadmap to support Bangladesh’s strategic vision as it transitions from Least Developed Country status.
