Colombo: Justice Mohammed Thahir Laffar, the most senior judge currently serving on the Court of Appeal, has been appointed as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal. Justice Laffar took his oath as the Acting President before President Anura Kumara Disanayake today at the Presidential Secretariat.
According to News.LK, the appointment comes in the wake of the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Bandula Karunarathna. The leave has been accepted by President Disanayake, necessitating the appointment of an acting president. Justice Laffar will serve in this capacity until a new Acting President of the Court of Appeal is appointed following constitutional procedures.
