Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) Assumes Role as Deputy Minister of Defence.


Colombo: Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) officially assumed his new role as the Deputy Minister of Defence at the Disaster Management Centre in Colombo. The ceremony took place today with the attendance of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the event was marked by the presence of Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) and other notable attendees. Major General Jayasekara was appointed to his new position by President Dissanayake on Thursday, November 21.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister and Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, the Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Forces Commanders, senior officials from the Defence Ministry, and Director Generals from institutions affiliated with the Disaster Management Centre.
