Dhaka: Maldivian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed emphasized the crucial role of the media in enhancing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives. She asserted that journalism can significantly contribute to deepening mutual understanding and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

According to United News of Bangladesh, High Commissioner Rasheed made these remarks during her visit to the offices of the Dhaka Tribune and the Bangla Tribune. She highlighted the media’s important role in promoting cooperation between the two countries and enhancing people-to-people connectivity by showcasing culture, tourism, and investment opportunities.

During her visit, which was at the invitation of the editors of the two media outlets, she toured the newsrooms, interacted with journalists, and engaged in discussions with their management teams. The high commissioner praised the management and editorial teams for their significant contributions in delivering timely and credible news to the public.

Dhaka Tribune Editor Reaz Ahmad and Bangla Tribune Executive Editor Udisa Islam also participated in the discussions. The Maldives is looking to transform its relationship with Bangladesh into a broader economic partnership and is seeking more skilled Bangladeshi professionals to support its expanding healthcare, tourism, and infrastructure sectors.
