Microbus Driver and Another Man Fatally Stabbed in Separate Chattogram Incidents


Chattogram: Two people, including a microbus driver, were stabbed to death in two separate incidents within a few hours in the city’s Port area and Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Mahbub Alam, 37, a microbus driver from Hathazari upazila, and Ajier Rahman, 35, from the port colony area of the city.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Zahidur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Hathazari Model Police Station, reported that Mahbub Alam, who was also a caretaker of a building in the Kalabagan area, had an altercation with some individuals at around 4:30 am over a minor issue. The confrontation escalated, leading to Mahbub being stabbed indiscriminately, which resulted in his death at the scene. Upon receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue. Efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the killing.



In a separate incident, Ajier Rahman, the son of Hossain Ali from Bagerhat district, was attacked by unidentified assailants in the Port Colony area of the city early Sunday. Abu Bakkar, a sub-inspector of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), stated that Ajier was found in critical condition and was rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries around 2:20 am.
