MOD Seva Vanitha Unit Hosts Blood Donation Campaign to Honor World Blood Donor Day


Colombo: The Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit (MOD SVU) organized a blood donation campaign today at the Ministry of Defence premises in commemoration of World Blood Donor Day, which is observed annually on June 14.



According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the event was held under the guidance of the President of the MOD SVU, Dr. (Mrs.) Ruvini Rasika Perera. A significant number of Tri-Forces personnel, civil employees of the Ministry of Defence, and staff members of affiliated institutions volunteered to donate blood during the campaign.



The initiative aimed to support the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) in maintaining a sufficient blood supply for patients in need. It also sought to encourage a sense of social responsibility and humanitarian service among the participants.



Medical professionals from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital and the National Blood Transfusion Service, Narahenpita, were on hand to provide expertise, ensuring the blood donation process was conducted safely and efficiently.



The event also saw the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, representatives from associated institutions, and officials from the National Blood Transfusion Service.
