Dhaka: A woman and her nine-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives when a truck collided with the motorcycle they were riding on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Ghoraghat municipality of Dinajpur.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased have been identified as Shampa Begum, 35, and her daughter Nusaifa Akhter. Shampa’s husband, Selim Sarker, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained minor injuries in the accident. The family hailed from Fulhar village in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha.

Officer-in-Charge of Ghoraghat Police Station, Shahidul Islam, stated that the family was en route to a wedding at Hamidpur Chittipara in Ghoraghat. The unfortunate incident occurred when a truck hit their motorcycle from behind near Ghoraghat Filling Station around 11:30 am.

The collision’s impact was severe enough to throw Shampa and Nusaifa onto the road, where they were subsequently run over by the same truck, resulting in their immediate deaths. Police efforts are currently underway to trace the truck and apprehend its driver, as confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge.
