Colombo: The Government of the State of Palestine, with the agreement of the Government of Sri Lanka, has appointed H.E. Ihab I.M. Khalil as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Sri Lanka. Ambassador Khalil has officially presented his credentials to H.E. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the President of Sri Lanka. The presentation took place on 24 March 2025 at 0900 hrs at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the appointment of H.E. Ihab I.M. Khalil marks a significant step in the diplomatic relations between Palestine and Sri Lanka. The presentation of credentials is a formal diplomatic requirement allowing the ambassador to commence his duties in the host country.
