Dhaka: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir has called upon police officers to perform their duties with courage and dedication, inspired by patriotism, to maintain law and order in the country. He made this call during a special meeting on law and order with senior police officials held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in the city’s Rajarbagh Police lines.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the IGP highlighted the importance of maintaining normal law and order in the capital, emphasizing that stability in Dhaka is crucial for the entire country. He pointed out that people from various walks of life, including foreign and local diplomats, reside in Dhaka, making effective policing essential.

The IGP stressed the need for increased direct monitoring and proper supervision from senior officers to enhance field-level policing. He explained that effective supervision motivates police personnel at lower levels to work willingly and efficiently. He urged officers to prioritize the national interest and establish peace without succumbing to injustice.

Md Ali Hossain Fakir also warned that the police force would not bear responsibility for intentional mistakes or personal interests, promising strict action in such cases. He emphasized the importance of political neutrality and professionalism, stating that the identity of the police is to serve the law and the people, regardless of political beliefs.

The IGP reiterated the police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and acknowledged the rising challenges posed by cybercrime, rumors, and misinformation on social media, which have become significant challenges compared to traditional crimes. He urged vigilance against attempts to undermine the police’s effectiveness and against misleading information.

The meeting was attended by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Additional IGP Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, and officials from various levels of Bangladesh Police.
