Dhaka: Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Wednesday directed field-level police officers to ensure thorough investigation of every criminal case and bring offenders to justice through due legal process. The directive came at the monthly crime review meeting for June 2026, held virtually at Police Headquarters with Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Khondoker Rafiqul Islam in the chair.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the additional IGP emphasized the need for increased vigilance to prevent any escalation in criminal activities nationwide. He instructed police officials to conduct comprehensive investigations into murder, rape, robbery, and abduction cases to ensure their prompt resolution. The meeting assessed the overall crime situation in the country during June, focusing on major incidents reported throughout the month.

Participants engaged in detailed discussions on cases involving robbery, banditry, murder, rape, and abduction, as well as pending arrest warrants, progress in investigations, trial outcomes, and conviction rates. Officials from various police units, including metropolitan police, Special Branch (SB), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Tourist Police, Highway Police, Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Railway Police, police ranges, and district police, joined the meeting virtually.

At the Police Headquarters, Deputy Inspector General (Crime Management) Mohammad Abu Sufian, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Md Rezaul Karim, and other senior officials were present, highlighting the commitment of law enforcement to address and manage the crime situation effectively.
