Dhaka: Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was warmly greeted with flowers and congratulations by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and ruling party lawmakers after the announcement of the presidential election result on Thursday. Immediately after the result was announced in the Parliament Chamber, Prime Minister Tarique congratulated Fakhrul with a red rose.
According to United News of Bangladesh, as they left the chamber, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman again presented the newly elected President with flowers on behalf of himself and the party. He then accompanied Fakhrul to the Parliament lobby, where he greeted him with a large bouquet. The gesture was witnessed by several prominent figures, including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, and other lawmakers.
At one point, when Fakhrul asked the Prime Minister to move ahead, Tarique Rahman replied, ‘You go first,’ demonstrating a gesture of respect and camaraderie. Fakhrul later went to his room in the Parliament building, where the Prime Minister also joined him to exchange greetings. The newly elected President spent some time there as lawmakers, Parliament officials, and staff came to congratulate him.
Before leaving the room, Fakhrul shook hands with his personal staff and bade them farewell, marking the end of a momentous day that was celebrated with warmth and unity.
