Dhaka: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam announced on Thursday that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s potential visits to India and Japan remain subject to finalization, largely dependent on his schedule and the diplomatic discussions underway between Bangladesh and the respective countries. “The government is busy, the Prime Minister is busy,” Obaed stated, highlighting the ongoing domestic initiatives and looming constitutional duties occupying the government’s agenda.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister mentioned the existing uncertainty regarding the Prime Minister’s attendance at the upcoming BRICS Summit’s outreach session or any bilateral engagements. She stressed that ample time remains to make a decision, noting, “A lot can happen in a month.” Obaed clarified that the Prime Minister’s current focus is on domestic obligations, and no definitive plans have been set for the proposed visits, including to India.

Further elaborating, Shama Obaed remarked that the prospective visits hinge on the Prime Minister’s availability and the progress of talks with the respective nations.
