President Highlights Government’s Commitment to Overcoming Challenges on Deepavali

Colombo: The Deepavali festival, celebrated with great devotion by Hindus worldwide, is observed today. In commemoration of Lord Vishnu’s defeat of the demon Narakasura, devotees engage in religious rituals, praying for the triumph of righteousness over unrighteousness and the dispelling of darkness from hearts to spread light.

According to News.LK, the President has used this occasion to highlight the substantial initiatives the government is undertaking to address serious national challenges, including the drug menace and organized crimes that hinder the nation’s progress. The government emphasizes the right of every citizen to live safely and regards this right as fundamental to a healthy life.

Furthermore, the government is committed to safeguarding the well-being of all citizens, residents, and visitors in the country. Efforts are being made to overcome religious and ethnic extremism, establish social justice, and build a safe nation where every individual can enjoy civil, political, and cultural rights without hindrance, preserving the freedom and dignity of all.

Deepavali, as a festival of light, symbolizes a brighter path toward fulfilling hopes for a thriving nation and a beautiful life. The President extends warm wishes for a blessed Deepavali to all Sri Lankan and overseas Hindus, hoping their hearts will be illuminated with the spirit of the festival.
