Narsingdi: Police on Monday arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged gang rape of a schoolgirl at Charmarjal village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district. The suspects have been identified as Rakib Hasan Rubel, 26, and Dipu Mia, 22, both of whom are residents of the village.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the case was filed against four individuals following the incident. The victim, a Class-VIII student, had gone to Charmarjal village on Saturday night to meet an acquaintance named Riam. Before she could reach her destination, four young men allegedly intercepted her, took her to a secluded spot near a pond, and raped her.
The perpetrators reportedly recorded videos of the assault and demanded Tk 10,000 from the victim, threatening to upload the footage on Facebook if she failed to comply. The girl recounted the traumatic experience to her family in the early hours of Sunday. Later that day, the victim’s mother lodged a case at Raipura Police Station against the accused, as confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Mujibur Rahman.
The other two suspects in the case have been identified as Jashim, 24, from Fuldi village, and Akka, 22. Police are actively conducting operations to apprehend the remaining suspects.
